Climate: Warm and dry. Yearly temperatures average 68-77 F. There is a little rain.
Natural hazards: prolonged droughts, seasonal harmattan wind produces obscuring dust, volcanically and seismically active.
Current Environmental issues: soil erosian, deforestation due to demand for wood used as fuel, water shortages, desetification, environmental damage has threatened several species of birds and reptiles, illegal beacvh sand extraction, over-fishing.
